Success – I get what I want

Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. This means that success depends on how you define your aim or purpose.

Famous Basket Ball Coach, John Wooden preferred to make his own definition.

“Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” Success is an attitude. Success requires maximum effort.

Success depends on how you define your aim or purpose. This means we have to be very careful while defining success or success criteria. We have to consider the ‘side benefits’ which we will get on the journey of achieving aim or goal. Success criterion has to be in line with ‘actions’ and efforts that we are putting in. If we give best from our side, most likely we will achieve our aim and we will stamp us as ‘successful’. If we get ‘side benefits’ and partial success in final ‘aim’ then also we should call ourselves successful and then try for more or ‘higher’ level of achievement in the same field.

Your aim could be anything- big or small. Examples – Win a cricket match, achieve Rs.1000 Cr. Sale, launch a new drug or vaccine or simply, make a crying child smile!

When you fix up your goal, you need not know every detail as to how you will reach there. If you know the direction that is enough. Detail path will open up as you move on. Remember money and ‘light’ will arrive on time. Universe will arrange it for you.

Let us say, you set a goal to win Olympic Medal in running when you are ten. Then if you excel in your age group at School –College-University-State and national level then all along this journey you are successful. A few failures (not being first in every competition) at each stage does not make you
unsuccessful!

Strong desire for success is a great driving force for achieving more. So keep your hunger for success alive all the time, but do not allow failures on the way to let you down. Look at failures as lessons learned.

Success is a progressive realization of the worthy idea.
